Prayer for Monday 17th February 2014

We continue to hold in prayer the people of Brazil. As large sums of money continue to be spent across the country on projects connected with the football World Cup and Summer Olympics, we ask that you will so guide     economic and social policy that the results of the development work will benefit all members of the community. We pray for the people of the favelas, and all who live in poverty, particularly for those who feel alienated and neglected. We pray for the police and civic authorities, and for Church and community leaders in areas dominated by poverty, gang crime and drug  addiction. Send the transforming power of your Spirit into the favelas, bringing new hope of a better future, improved living conditions, economic and educational opportunities, and freedom from crime and corruption.  Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
