Prayer for Sunday 9 February

Collect for the Fourth Sunday before Lent

O God,
you know us to be set
in the midst of so many and great dangers,
that by reason of the frailty of our nature
we cannot always stand upright:
grant to us such strength and protection
as may support us in all dangers
and carry us through all temptations;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

Lord and Father of us all, may everything that takes place at St. Martin’s this morning glorify and honour you.
“God of beauty and might,
look down on our worshipping community,
and on our church, with grace and with mercy.
Heal us when we suffer.
Challenge us when we are content.
Bring us to an understanding of our neighbours
As we understand more about you.
And may we see Jesus
In all that we attempt here,
In our worship and praise
And in our mission and ministry.
May we always feel your presence – and rejoice. Amen.” (Prayers for Parishs) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
