Our Saturday prayers for Walsall focus today on the infrastructure, transport and media services of our town. For once we have good news to celebrate as plans to redevelop the Old Square and build a new cinema complex are unveiled in the press. These projects will employ people in the development stage and then generate many more new jobs in the shops, cafes and cinemas upon completion. We pray that this will give hope to the many unemployed people in Walsall who are desperately seeking work. It will give those working in the media an opportunity to celebrate success in Walsall and present a more optimistic future for the area. Thank you, Lord, for these projects. We pray that they will be completed safely, on time and on budget.
Today a service of celebration and commissioning for the diocese’s “Reaching New Generations” is being hosted at St Martin’s. We pray for all who attend, and all who work with children and families in churches across our diocese, whether in a paid or voluntary capacity. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
